OpenVPN connected but doesn't change IP

Hallo,

Hope i’m writting in the correct topics.

Please if someone could tell me what’s wrong. I have a RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN (Fw.: 6.47.4). And Teltonika RUT950 (FW. 0.6.9.2)

As i connect teltonika via OpenVPN it shows me what IP is assigned and also on microtik i see under active connections called IP and assigned IP (in secret i assignet what the IP should be).

The problem is that the assigned IP is not active (i can’t ping it) but (when i use VPN over Routers Wifi or LAN) the old IP is still active..i have also tried with my PC and the same resault..

Example: If PC got via DHCP ip 192.168.1.20 and then connects to OpenVPN (or L2PT) it gets 192.168.1.70.. but if i ping .70 nothing happens, if i ping .20 it’s doing…
Same with teltonika.

I have also seen in ARP, that the mac is still assignet to 1. IP not the VPN.. if i clear ARP.. it just returnes to the same addresses?

Please for your help.

Thanks

Just one rapid hint: updgrade at least RouterOS and RouterBOOT to 6.47.10

Upgraded it to 6.47.10 but still the same problem. OpenVPN connects normaly but doesn’t work with the IP it should..

The hint is for security, not for your problem.

Huh?

To start with, please provide a diagram with how your network(s?) is/are setup.

What IP subnets are you using on each network?

You are connecting DHCP and then making an OpenVPN connection, to the same network?

You can’t ping from a computer, to an IP on the same network? Or a different network? Different network but same IP subnet?

Aha.. ok .. tnx

i’m using normal 192.168.1.0/24 for mikrotik LAN, on teltonika it has 192.168.2.0/24 LAN.

if i try using mobile data on teltonika and connect via mikrotik WAN (i have static IP) it does the same as if i connect teltonika to Wifi on mikrotik with DHCP. (i have noticed the same thing if i have my PC connected to mikrotik via ethernet cable and connect openVPN or L2TP)

About ping:
if teltonika is connected via ethernet cable (on its WAN port) or via Wifi and it’s “connected” with VPN then i can only ping it ith her old (DHCP) IP and can’t ping it with her assined IP (the IP that is assigned in mikrotik VPN settings (secret)).

In my opinion, Ivacy could be the best option as I had personal experience with it.

Or is it possible that there is a problem with routes?

As i tested i saw, that if i want to ping:

  • From my PC (Thats connected to Mikrotik Vlan via ethernet cable) - Ping doesn’t work..
  • If i ping via mikrotiks console - ping works normaly (< 100ms)
