I had 2x RB333 with a OpenVPN tunnel working well. I needed to change the client end to a virtual mikrotik (running on Microsoft Hyper-V) so i built the new x86 MT VM, installed the certificate and restored a backup of the RB333. Ive triple checked all the setting but i cannot get the VPN to connect. I get the following error in the client log
Hello! Sorry if I’m late. I have seen this “could not create interface” message just now on RouterOS 5.26.
First some short time it worked as OpenVPN client well, using certificates and private key for my router, connected to Debian, and all things were fine. Then I tried to setup OpenVPN server on RouterOS, and were no luck to connect to it two days along (but this is another topic). Finally I gave up and switched off OpenVPN server on RouterOS, and switched on client again. I saw the client had not even tried to establish the TCP connection, and just had written this “could not create interface” message to log. Nothing helped, even creating new client interface, changing it’s type from “ethernet” to “ip”, changing password as have been written long time ago in this topic: http://wiki.microtik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27578
Finally I’ve rebooted my router, and client established tunnel again…
