OpenVPN why not support UDP ?!

Hi,

I am a MK user and i have many MK devices, but i am a bit disappointed because me and many users have OpenVpn tunnels to connect to radius server but the latest MK version 5.7 still does not support UDP OVPN servers Why ?


We need it, because OVPN over tcp its bad idea and has a few problems, you can see this about tcp in ovpn http://sites.inka.de/~bigred/devel/tcp-tcp.html

MT has stated that they will not implement new OpenVPN features.

I’m still wondering if ovpn or ssh in routerOS are MT own implementation (then why?) or some weird port of some sort (forked back… when?).

openvpn is terrible, i’ll be the first one to admit it, but it’s very much essential for vpn deployment in certain locales. sstp is an unacceptable alternative because it’s specific to vista/7, and over a third our users have macs. openvpn-udp also performs better then sstp, and it most certainly performs better then openvpn-tcp in 90% of the time - we came to those conclusions after extensive testing. no theories, just real-world results.
