yes...
as far as we used, our R52 card more stable and chipest in our country. here much interferences... ![]()
we had pinging command from ap to it card distance -/+ 6,6km with wds [ap2ap] methode average 7ms
I am also a fan of the R52 mini pci card. It is just a little stronger than the CM9. I have not tried the 5.xx side of the card, but the 2.4 part of it is outstanding. ![]()
That is all that I use now..
I have MUCH more stable connections ans less headaches with them.

Great cards and very reliable.
As far as distance… To many variables in that one to answer.
Keep in mind that for power there are other cards available.
The three 2.4GHz cards that get my vote (depending upon application) are:
R52 (Mikrotik)
SR2 (Ubiquiti)
XR2 (Ubiquiti)
NL2511+ (SENAO)
R52 (Mikrotik)
XR2 (UBNT) I didn´t test it yet… ![]()
R52 in 5.8 Ghz : 12 Kms with Hyperlink 27 dBi … running very well in p2p ![]()
what if i want o use it in a WDS nodes as the link interface 5.8G and 15dbi omni antenna , distance about 3-4Km ?? with its 65mW would the link be reliable ??
and if used for clients connection at the wds node (rb532) 2.4G with a 15dbi omni antenna , how long the relible distance will be ???
its 65mW !!! isnt tooooo low ???
I F****** love the R52. If it’s enough output power for your application you can NOT go wrong with this card!!
I cannot stress my opinion enough that the Mikrotik R52 is an EXCELLENT card.
For example, I had a point to point link approximatly 2kM using CM9 cards. Signal was “ok” and noise floor was “ok” (I don’t remember specific numbers. Data rates were generally 24/36mbps or so but that was plenty for this application.
I replaced ONE end of the link with an R52 and signal got MUCH better, noise floor got better, and data rates went to 54Mbps almost all the time!
Not only that, but I’ve had this experiance multiple times.
You can not go wrong choosing an R52, if the TX power is enough for your application. Keep in mind that you don’t always need a kajillion watts to accomplish the task.
in my country they are crazy of kajilion of watts , they love kajilion , they die on kajilion , one of the wisp named his son " Kajilion " , even the gov. named a street " Kajilion street " …
now , what should i do when i’m in the middle of a forest of kajilion of watts , they run 2-3-even 6 WATTS !!! you may say they r crazy , may be i agree , but this is a fact , and i have to deal with it …
my question is could R52 stand among these Kajilion war ?
when I’ll use 15dbi antenna , a client at 2-3Km with a 24dbi grid , could he connect and make a reliable connection ??
and a link of 2 R52 with 2 15dbi omni , 5G , 3Km , is it OK or not ??
samsoft, Hi:
With your "crazy of kajilion of watts " I dought you can get any “kbps”..
but!!! if you think different you might reach what you want.
Hint1, instead of 20 or 10Mhz channel use 5Mhz “lower the noise you receive”
Hint2, instead of standard antenna polarization, use new one!! like circular polarized antenna!!
Hint3, use non-standard 2.4 and 5.0 channels
Hint4, use new 2.3 frequency “if it is allowed in your Country”
Hint5, Hint6 and Hint7 “Try and error”
Good Luck and I’ll wait for your installation news!!
about hint4: everything is allowed in my country , but is it possible to get antenna for 2.3 ,4 , or 6.1 Ghz ?
I have to use omni antennas , couse i want to setup a WDS with about 5 nodes and i want them to connect to each other .. could 65mW R52 with 15 dbi antenna connect to same setup at 3-4 KM distance ?
what about 900mhz? sr9?
We imported a sizable batch of RIC/522s from MikroTik via Ireland; We couldn’t be happier with them unless we could relabel them (that would be a little crooked) and sell them as Orthogons (that would be even more crooked
.
Secret sauce: 23 dBi enclosures that cost something, R52s, your choice of RB depending on how fast you need to go, how many R52 cards.
Contact me off list if you need a source of $600 leakers (only $150-$200 per drop of water inside). We could spare to provide you with at least two (and they match), but that $600 doesn’t include enclosures or antennas ![]()

Hi Samsoft08:
Sorry, I missed your post!!
for 2.3Ghz antenna; I installed alreay one from:www.stelladoradus.com
conatct sales:edwina@stelladoradus.com
Hint1:Don’t ever use amplifier, we reached 16km "12Mbps udb and around 10Mbps TCP with R52 and it is only 65mwatt…no need of “kajilion of watts”.
Hint2:Always use sonooper “comes with M.T O.S” and go away from used channels.
I advice you much to surch this forum, you will find nearly every think you need to ask about.
Good luck!!
HOW much distance can a 15DBI omni go with a Sr2, and on the other end a 24dbi grid or yagi with 200+++ Mw of output power ??? hasent anybody tried this configuration or something close to it. This is almost an impossible question
???
I have a scenario that fits that and the link is 9.9Miles.
98%ccq snr 25db using 2.4-10MHz channel and actually the omni is a 9dbwith downtilt.
This is over mostly open fields however.
Thats good to hear, and very impressive. I cant wait to see how far my setup can travel, with any luck it will be good as yours (LOS of course). thanks tgrand!
P.S did you ground your omni with the copper running up the side of the omni? or have any troubles with blowing the card?
Qusay:
how can i use 5Mhz channel ?
sorry, newbie for this ![]()
circular polarized antenna, do you have more details for this?
i want to deploy RB333 with R52.
Thanks Qusay
i tested R52H , 9.5 Km , 5.8Ghz - 10Mhz , PtmP , AP 17db sector , client 17db flat
result = signal strength at each side = -70db , ping time = 2ms , data rate>10 Mps ..
Were they these ones ? :
