It could be great to be possible by clicking on some rule in firewall, mangle..nat to duplicate, create under or below the same rule and than to change some small needed changes…in this new duplicate rule…
Not sure if this is what you mean.
Open firewall rule and click copy. Edit new rule as required.
I didnt notice it thanks.
But also it could be in menu by clicking right mouse on rule…duplicate or copy…
I agree. New to RouterOS and I expected a duplicate option on right-click - sort of a de facto standard. But at least there is a way to do it.
Sorry for reviving such an old thread but it’s the first result in Google for “mikrotik duplicate firewall rule” and it’s not complete.
Unless I’m missing something, the copy command is only available in Winbox. It would be nice if the web interface for RouterOS also allowed rules to be duplicated.
What’s wrong with
/ip firewall filter add copy-from … ?
How very old school ![]()
Which I actually love…
It’s not GUI. When we work in WebFIG, we need gui option.
!!! Please add it !!!
There are many user interface options that are not available in webfig. You should see webfig more as a fallback tool to use when it is not possible to use winbox, or for some minor change. It isn’t really suitable for day-to-day usage.
I think indeed it should be improved to work the same way as winbox and then possibly winbox can be dropped. This is what most manufacturers do these days. It means you can manage the router from any device without having to install software. And with modern browsers it can work well.
However, that is a comparatively big project and I would not suggest that assigning a high priority, compared to other ongoing work in RouterOS.
Bite your tongue, winbox is a great tool, in terms of easily allowing me access to my devices even if I screw things up… not quite bullet proof but decent.

you couldn’t pry winbox from my cold dead hands, don’t even try, I’ve killed people for less.
/s (sorta)
In fairness here, a context option for “Copy” in firewall, in winbox – that doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
I’m just waiting for the years-long promised multi-platform client arrives & it turns out to be webfig running in some node.js wrapper app. What cat meme is going to capture that one…
We’ve come full circle here – the original post observed that “the copy command is only available in Winbox.”
The procedure is: open a rule, click Duplicate, edit the new rule.
Yes, that certainly should be possible. Make webfig so that it is functionally the same as winbox, then allow user to choose how to run that.
And of course (I don’t want to repeat that everytime) there would be an associated small application that one can run to allow MAC-level connect, RoMON, netinstall etc. You would not need to start that for normal admin work over IP, only in cases you work at MAC or netboot level. It can be just a portable app that you manually start, or installed as a service for those that regularly use it.
True. I think the suggestion in-between here was adding “Copy” option on the right-click (context) menu. This “save” the double-clicking and finding the “Copy” button step — but reminded me why replicating all the little things winbox does well, be so tricky. There down to someone wanting to save a couple extra clicks in a “Copy” operation…
Indeed, there are so many required actions that tools that are not Winbox are often not useful.
I recall discovering to my dismay that an earlier version of the Mikrotik phone app had no mechanism to move firewall rules. You could add all you wanted, but could never slide them into the proper order.
