OS 2.9.30/31 on RB532 causes system instability

Hi!

I use AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev: 1) installed on RB532 for providing Wi-Fi Internet access based on MT’s “Hotspot” service with enabled WPA PSK TKIP security profile.

After upgrading from 2.9.28 to 2.9.30/31 OS there appeared three kinds of problems:

1st. instability of Wi-Fi radio channel establishment: sometimes hotspot’s SSID is not seen at all (although it should be), or IP address DHCP assignment process last forever, or radio link was often broken suddenly although quite strong radio signal

2nd. if radio channel was at last established - users had problems with access to login website (located on MT flash) - sometimes system reboot helped

3td. if at last user has access to the Internet there is a quite big difference between ping’s times from MT to Internet and from Wi-Fi user to Internet, let’s say even about 1000ms !!! – so it causes quite big discomfort of using net resources

Because of those problems I was forced to downgrade to 2.9.28 OS :frowning:

Regards, Mark

Regarding to that I wrote before here are some of my suggestions and observations.

Finally I decided to upgrade software to 2.9.32 because downgrade didn’t help.

1st. instability of Wi-Fi radio channel establishment was definitely improved after forcing Wi-Fi card to work only in 802.11b mode.

2nd and 3rd problems seem to still exist but with a few comments:

  • after MT reboot everthing works right
  • problem with Internet website inaccessibility and long pings times starts to appear after some time - so my suspicion is: maybe there is memory leak problem in any application run on MT OS?
