I see v5.1 available for download but for some reason cannot download. I think was just posted and not yet upload. Any hints?

Hi,

On download page, there is a dropdown list described ‘Please choose download site:’.
Select ‘Latvia’ instead of ‘USA’ then download.

One more question, the Netinstall 5.1 link is not active (cannot be downloaded).
Any help pls

Link to Netinstall 5.1 is dead.
Probably this file was not uploaded by MT staff.
We must wait until Monday :slight_smile:

edit: Netinstall 5.1 is included in ‘All packages’ torrent.

After upgrading an RB750G from 4.17 to 5.1 the router seems bricked, connection is dead. How can I downgrade? Is it possible to access the router after a failed upgrede at all? The upgrade process didn’t indicate any error.

You need to reinstall RouterOS.

Well, thanks. In the meantime I’ve also found the proper method for reflashing via netboot. Although encountered a few problems.

  1. Unfortunately updating didn’t work with 2 network interfaces (and several virtual/VPN ones) installed in my desktop Win7. The netinst app was probably bound to the wrong (default) interface so bootp broadcast requests didn’t reach the netinst application (verified with wireshark). This is something that should probably be addressed by Mikrotik developers. It went alright on my laptop which has a single interface. It would be nice to be able to select a particular interface in netinst.

  2. The RB750G can abslotutely NOT be upgraded to 5.1 (yet, I guess). I’ve tried bith methods - winbox, netboot. The update goes without any apparent problems, but the router cannot be accessed after the upgrade. Neither interface works, Winbox can’t see it neither thtough IP nor MAC. Downgrading the board back to 4.17 makes it function again. For now we’re forced to use it (no 5.x extended webfig). Router was reset to defaults every time. After the last upgrade to 5.1 the ACT led didn’t even turn off, and the board kept resetting itself in an endless loop. Going back to 4.17 again helped. I’m going to install this little box in an office tomorrow, I hope the unit HW itself I received is not faulty.
