osfp problem

I have problem on couple of my routers that ospf just die…
Is there any way of restarting ospfd without restarting router?
I am also trying to write script that would detect this and then reset it…Does anyone have idea how to detect that?

Are you sure OSPF is dying? Is there any chance that OSPF is working, but not doing what you intend it to do?

If OSPF is just failing to work as you think it should, you could post an export of your OSPF configurations, with some notes as to what is hooked up to what, and how. Then people could look at the settings, and suggest something.

For example, I had OSPF issues, and it turned out that due to the layout of my routers, a priority of 0 on all ports of sub routers was incorrect. This was because some sub routers needed to pass on information to even more routers beyond them, so on the port where they were doing that, they needed a priority of 1 or greater. Then, with the port that was connected to a core router, they had a priority of 0. This made them act as a DR on one port, but not on the other, which was proper for the type of instillation. Without this, the router past that one would never get OSPF tables, and it looked like OSPF was broken.

I’ve just had ospf apparantly die on me too. At the moment I only have two routers talking with ospf one running 2.9beta16 and the other 2.9rc5. It is the former one that seemed to “lock up”. I was having a good dig around for quite a while and it suddenly seemed to come back again on its own. Mind you, I am still a novice with ospf so who knows!

Same problem. This morning, on 5 of 9 rb500 running 2.9rc7, ospf did not do anything. It seems that ospf nearly chrashed on all routers at the same time?! Only way to get ospf work again was restarting all 5 systems. I realy hope, that Mikrotik will manage soo to get ospf work properly.

Kind Regards,
Stefan.

Yesterday I had to restart this five systems twice, to get ospf working again. But I have this failure only on routers with wireless interfaces. OSPF on my machines without a wireless interfaces is working very well.

I´ll observe this just a few more days an than switch to static routes because with ospf, ip-networking is very unreliable
