I have setup MikroTiks at 6 sites. The first phase was 3 sites and we used different areas, but everything routed properly. The second phase included replacing our RB750 with an 1100 and adding 3 more areas. The new areas can communicate with everything in our network but nothing gets past the 1100, so no Internet from those 3 areas.
The site with the 1100 works fine, I’m not sure if it’s due to the configuration of the individual sites or if I messed up on the 1100. We have dual Internet connections and the other 2 sites work fine, but they both use the secondary connection. I thought I could tap the extensive experience in the forum to give me some guidance.
Can I post sanitized .rsc files or backups to help with advice?
Your internet connections need to be on routers attached to area 0 (‘backbone’ in Mikrotik parlance). Default routes flow down into areas from the backbone area, but not the other way.
A layer3 network drawing would be helpful.
