OSPF Route Flapping and Dampening

Hi all,

I ran into an issue this morning with some upstream links. My OSPF connectivity was flapping on two links of my core routers. This flapping caused my edge routers on those links to lose connectivity sporadically (radically affecting my customers).

In the Cisco world I know there’s a way for me to use dampening and other techniques to try and stop LSAs from being generated and pushed out when there’s instability on an upstream link. I was wondering if the same is available in the MikroTik world.

If a built-in feature is not available, I was then hoping that someone out there who is a RouterOS scripting guru could potentially help in the design of a script which would account for this type of condition. Perhaps shutting down the affected port on the router for a period of time to see if the problem resolves over time?

If anyone has any ideas on either of these please let me know.

Thanks.
