I have several examples of RB951 routers with newer RouterOS (6.18 and up) where outbound SMB isn’t working. We have found an RB951 with v6.7, an RB951 running v5.26 and an RB750 running v5.25 where outbound SMB is NOT being blocked…the connection works.
What I mean by outbound SMB is accessing a public NAS from the private side of our Mikrotik. We have a Netgear ReadyNAS in a data center with a public IP address assigned to the network port. From behind most home routers and behind Mikrotiks running v6.7 and older, we can map a network drive using Windows to “\public-IP\share” successfully.
What has changed between v6.7 and v6.18 that has caused this failure to connect to SMB shares outside the network through the MikroTik? Is there a rule we can enter in the firewall that will allow this outbound SMB connection?
Thank you for your assistance.
