outdoor amp.

Hi, I don’t like the idea of mounting my 532’s in an outdoor box on the tower. we’re installing in the Caribbean, where it is extremely hot and humid. If I use a closed box, I’m affraid it will overheat. If I use a “wheaterproof” box with cooling fan, I’m affraid the humidity will corrode the electronics in short time.
can I use the 532 indoors and have an outdoor amp? indoor to antenna is about 120ft.
any suggestions are welcome.
thx,
peter

Some (including me) will advise against amps.

In Central Florida, I use low power outdoor amps to “remote” the radio as you describe. Helps with the lightning too. Been running 4+ years like this.

If it’s any comfort we use outdoor boxes here in california and in the summer it gets up to 105-110+ degrees in the valley. I just replaced a RB200 which may have been due to the heat, but our 500 series boards have yet to skip a beat.

The RB200 board has been in service for 2+ years now and it just died.. So it could have been due to other reasons.

thanks for the replies.
Mike would you mind to tell me what type of “low power outdoor amps” you’re using?

Peter

Hyperlink. (hyperlinktech.com) I’m not after the power; they set them custom to whatever levels I need, both TX and RX gain.

Stay safe down there. Can you believe we’ve already had our first named storm?
