Outdoor signal length for OmniTik UPA-5HnD

Can’t seem to find any solid numbers.

Anybody have an answer?

Thank you

As an AP…sorry

What is your question exactly?

Sorry. What is the wireless distance I can get out of this device, configured as an access point?

ie: 200m…1500sq ft…etc..

We have clients (SXT and Groove + 24dB ant) few kilometers away from Omnitik, no problem.

Not P2P though… strictly as an Access point

What acim wrote, is exactly in AP mode, like you ask. OmniTIK in AP mode, and SXT as a client, will work for around 5Km.

ytuxedo002, Omnitik is made to be AP, otherwise I would use some cheaper device (SXT or Groove) for PTP. There is no sense to use Omnitik in station or bridge mode and waste energy 360 degrees arround.

As normis said, even 5km is possible with SXT as CPE and with Groove + 32dB antenna 10-20km (depends on line of sight). We mounted our first Omnitik instead of 400mW miniPCI card and 12dB omni antenna and we immediatelly got about 5-10dB stronger signals to and from associated clients, which means Omnitik is the best cheap AP 802.11a/n solution at the moment. After that we deployed many Omnitiks.

Thank you all for your responses.

I guess i’m looking at this the wrong way. I’m thinking more of wifi clients (laptops and smartphones for example) in the surrounding area rather than an SXT at the other end.

If you have an Omnitik mounted around 20ft with laptop 802.11a/n clients, clear line of site, 300ft should work. Indoors is dependent on what materials the building is made of.

Rough estimate, anyway.

Thats what i was looking for. Thank you very much guys. Have a great week.
