OVPN client certificate based authentication

Hi there,

I am a newb and search-fu didn’t help, so here goes.
I have a OVPN server running in the cloud and have generated using easyRSA:

  • client.cert
  • CA.cert
  • client.key

These files work fine on my Windows OVPN client, now I am trying to get it to work on my mikrotik box. I have tried importing the certs and the key (importing the key automatically updated the status of the client.cert file into KR: decrypted, rsa).

The OVPN wiki pages and manuals is light on the subject of certificate based authentication. Is this feature supported on routerOS right now? I am actually running 5.3 version right now.

If your server requires LZO and/or UDP, Mikrotik OVPN will not be compatible with it. Only TCP and no compression.
