i have a strange issue such as follows:
sr2 as ap-bridge and several (15-16) clients around, 1,5-2km max distance. usually everything works fine, but if anybody starts to download with bit comet, there starts packet loss and big, big ping times to all of clients.
suggestions?

torrent brings a lot of strain to wireless network as wireless is only half duplex but there is full duplex capability needed. ![]()
add a firewall rule that will stop bit torrent. or tell your users not to use it.
As i know it is using a lot small packets, and causing high PPS, which is killing wireless. Especially if you dont run Nstream - it will kill 802.11a/b/g instantly.
no this is not pps issue , kinldy use WDS earlier iam having same problem now all links working fine .
EOIP having overhead as compare with WDS is pure bridge
try with wds configration instead of using EOIP

yes, but not encrypted torrent. for normal torrent you can add a Queue (see manual)
works fine.

other users came up with solution:
configure queue tree with prioritize your network - all know “good” protocols, like http, ftp, VoIP etc. and everything what stays behind gets minimal priority so, even encrypted p2p gets limited.
but this is not an easy way to go

we know that the queue tree is the better way to do good qos.
i only talk for “fast help” here… how to solve such problem like that: good signal levels with packet loss. we have more than 60 wireless routers and we register problems, then solve. if i have no any time to solve - i write here. so, i saw that packet loss comes with any download with bit comet, just this program. from limited user with simple queue. next i change simple queues with queue tree. same null result. at last, I stopped bit-torrent p2ps and wireless router we talking about goes work stable. now i put simple queues - one each user with burst for every type of traffic and another one for bit-torrent p2p traffic only.
