Have a RouterBoard 532 with a prism card. Everything is fine until 1 customers starts broadcasting an auction service. Upload for this customer is approx. 272K and download is 243K. When this customer starts broadcasting seeing packet loss to other customers over the wireless link. Have 37 customers associated with the wireless card but not many other customers are using any bandwidth at the time this is happening. When the auction stops broadcasting packet loss goes away. CPU never gets above 30% and is usually 20% or less. Is there something I am missing? Surely, we should be able to have this customer broadcast their auction without affecting other customers. Any advise would be appreciated.
Assuming CPE are not MT w/nstreme, try adjusting auction service customer’s CPE RTS threshold down, below the size of whatever packets the auction service customer is sending. Yes, it results in a little loss of throughput, but theoretically faster links are worth less than links that actually deliver packets…
Maybe you should try Atheros card on your AP. It’s more sensitive and advanced comparing to Prism. Do you have clients with low signal there?
Tried upgrading to SR2 cards about a week ago. Don’t know what was wrong but they received but did not transmit. We could run a scan and see all the other 2.4 stuff out there but could not see the SSID of our sector. We replaced the prism cards with the SR2’s and rebooted. Upgraded to 2.9.38 from 2.9.30 and never could get the SR2’s to work. Had to switch back to the prism’s to get the clients to associate.
Probably broken SR2. These are very sensitive cards to lightning, even if lightning is 5km away it can get damaged and usually either rx or tx part, not both. Try another card.
