Packing across WAN links

Hi All,

picture my current situation:

LAN <—> Cisco <—> WAN LINK <—> Cisco <—> LAN

I tried compression on the cisco’s. They crawl when you do that.

What I’d like to do is:

LAN <—> Mikrotik <—> Cisco <—> WAN LINK <—> Cisco <—> Mikrotik <—> LAN

But I’d like to have the Mikrotik’s do the packing transparently. I know I could replace the cisco’s with them but thats not an option in my case.

Is this possible? I tried putting a bridge on the Mikrotik’s and enabling packing but saw no movement in the performance (replace the cisco’s and the wan link with a little 10mb hub and you’ve got my test station).

Tried 2.8.28, 2.9.7

Which interface did you put the packing onto?

tried the bridge first, then tried combinations of the ether1/2/bridge on both sides, I found no difference in a bandwidth test.
