Parental control for kids

Hello, dear developers!
Please, tell me, how to set up parental controls for my kids.
I need to limit internet speed for gaming and social media.
But, at the same time, retain the ability to open educational websites, download documents, and watch movies.
For example, the data transfer and reception speed schedule is:
0.3 MB/sec from 12:01 AM to 4:00 PM. for visiting certain websites: Dota 2, TikTok, Discord. Don t limit speed for other sites
100 MB/sec from 4:01 PM to 7:00 PM. for visiting certain websites: Dota 2, TikTok, Discord. Don t limit speed for other sites
0.3 MB/sec from 7:01 PM to 12:00 AM for visiting certain websites: Dota 2, TikTok, Discord. Don t limit speed for other sites
Please, advise which WiFi router to buy and how to configure it for these tasks.

Thank you! Best regards, Mom.

Hi @Olga1 . There is an emulator for routeros, which is the operating system for most Mikrotik equipment. It will ask you to login, so login as admin with no password - so just click on login. Ignore the screen to change password, just go to the IP menu and click on Kid Control.

This allows you to define a new Kid or several and set times for that Kid and also to define a new Device or several and assign the Devices to Kids. The Kid definition allows you to set times and data rates as you have specified. However, it does not limit specific websites. You might be able to manage this with DNS and slave wireless interfaces, but you will have an interesting challenge.

Also, a clever Kid could realise that if the connect to the router using randomised MAC addresses, the restrictions would not apply to their device, which would probably require you to whitelist every MAC address on your network.

Well, good luck with all of that. I don't know if there are other products with the granularity of control you require and if you have an astute Kid , who chooses to google and read up on Mikrotik Kid Control, if that is what you go with, they might find your threads here and defeat you by superior knowledge of networking.

So if your aim is to bring up Kids who are at ease with networking and setting up routers, I say go for it.
