Hello,

Is it possible to have RB running on the first partition (active) while making multiple changes on the second partition (passive) and then simply reboot into passive partition. And, if all is well make it active? Sort of, I’m going to make lots of changes now but reboot at night time to test.

I’d like to know what would be the best approach to reconfigure “production” ccr1036 router without brining the “spare one”

  • moving WAN from /28 to /27, to start 8 static IPs to be changed to a new IPs
  • a lot of NAT lines to be adjusted
  • list goes on and on…

This is not possible

But you can do it in opposite way: Make changes in the active partition and if something fails you can boot the backup partition and rewrite the damaged partition back to refresh it into original state and start again.

I guess, I will stay with my old approach:

  • export compact configuration
  • do all the necessary changes
  • apply new configuration on the second partition
  • test new config
