Hello everyone, I really like this forum duo to the amount of information that I’ve learned so far.
My question is:
If I have prerouting chain mangle rules with passthrough checked and I have another forward chain mangle rules after the prerouting rules. Dose the forward mangle rules would effect or replace the routing mark of the prerouting chain traffic or I have to uncheck the passthrough in the prerouting rules?
what i need to know is if the passthrough can affect the chains even if they are different?!!
Bit rusty on this stuff but I believe passthrough means, carry out the instruction if matched, but then simply go to the next rule in the same chain. IF passthrough = no, then if the traffic is matched it is removed from the chain and goes on to the next chain.
The passthrough only affects the chain movement as anav said.
You can control marking based on existing packet, connection or routing marks or use the NOT option on those marks.
The default is to ignore all and overmark but that is just the default … the control is totally up to your marking filter.
So the marking control is far more flexible than your initial thought.
