No, it’s not possible. Only way is to reinstall not saving password.

So can I use 2.8.18 to upgrade 2.8.16? And how ill I get the software key as in would I need to reregister again?

you can do that freely
software ID and license will remain the same, so you won’t need to reregister

You can use netinstall to install for example version 2.8.18 to do a fresh install. You can tell it to keep the license, but to NOT keep the configuration (to “reset” the password)…
