Normis,
would development go on faster if users would pay for the dude?

Interesting idea. We would definitely pay for it as I am sure many others would too.
I would pay
its the best NMS I have come across
Currently we don’t plan to make a commercial version of the Dude, but we do plan to release a new version in 2-3 months.
That works too. Thanks!
I would pay for The Dude. I am blown away how well it works and the visibility it gives me into my network. +1
Maybe it should be worth to think it over.
You could spend the money for a developer (or two) and push the Dude. I don’t see the wisp market get bigger in the future and with the CCR1036 you’re enter the field of Juniper,Cisco and the other dinosaurs. I think to have a cheap NMS with an excellent handling and a perfect integration will heating up your routerboard business.
Thanks normis, of course, pass on a +1 to the dude dev team ![]()
Maybe consider a ‘ransom’ style donation system, where we could all put a few bucks towards the features we want added/updated/fixed.
You could use this funding in two ways.
I vote +1 for this.
Maybe even just open up a “donation for a single upgrade cycle” to give the finance department something to chew on, easier to justify, while still giving it away for free… The donation won’t work for my company. They will never have any financial vehicle to donate. (Can I just be an unpaid intern? I will sign any non-disclosure agreement. I know that is not going to happen but I can dream!) ![]()

[EDIT: No I don’t think donate is the correct way to go.]
I don’t like the ransom terminology but the idea of voting for the features you like with money sounds good to me.
