Paypal Issue -- won't send response to router

Hello all,

We have a RB750 with a Nanostation2 set up as a hotspot. We need to be able to use Paypal and it is not sending a response back to the router. Users are able to get to the sign-up screen where they are prompted for email, password, username etc. The Paypal page loads and the payment is sent successfully. The User Manager even creates the user’s account posted with unlimited time…but it does not activate. From what I’ve read…it looks like Paypal is not able to get back to the router to send payment confirmation. For others this issue has been solved by adding walled garden entries, changing Paypal tax settings. I have tried most everything on the other thread dealing with this issue but can’t come to a resolution. Any help with the problem would be greatly appreciated. If you need me to provide other documentation from the router I’d be happy to do so.

You have an invalid public host declared in User Manager. You can’t declare a /24 address it has to be just the IP or a FQDN of the usermanager server.
ie 75.72.28.32 not 75.72.28.32/24

I have remedied this and it still will not work properly. My curiosity is leading me to believe that my firewall settings are too restrictive. When I set up the router in the beginning I think I set the default configuration up. Would these entries block access to/from paypal or authorize.net?

If you are using http, then make sure you have the www service enabled on port 80 and if https, the https service on 443 with a valid certificate. I have found Paypal works fine responding to a http unsecure setting, so that will get you up and running. You can then sort out a certificate and switch to secure response at a later date. Also of course, you must ensure that there is no blocking of port 80 (or 443 as appropriate) on the firewall.

On the command line of the usermanager server, you can also check the payments.

/tool user-manager payment print
