pc router kicks all clients off and does not reconect

Hi

Just need to know if anyone can help?

i have a pc router with v3.4 firmware and after more or less every week i need to physicaly power down the pc router and restart it. Somhow it seems to kick off all clients linked and does not reconect them. when i do a scan from client side i see the ssid, signal strength being -60 but cant seem to connect, at least not until i restart pc router on the highsite. Any ideas?

(Highsite) AP-BRIDGE----------------STATION-WDS (Client)

Also something different which is not as important as above. i notice that if i loose my link to my Highsite both routers resets, the pc router and the client pc router.

thanks

Hi ;
why you are using station WDS at client site ? , try to make it station .
when a WDS or repeater device failed to connect to main device it reboot and trying again to reconnect and so on .
with best regards .

i made it wds because it was the easiest way with having all ip addresses the same and not need to do routing as i am still quite noob. So if i understand you properly i place the client in station mode no wds. will this work with my set up?

i have the highsite on a AP-bridge mode with the wds section being (dynamic and bridge 1) enabled. Does the client need to be in wds (dynamic and bridge 1) enabled with just station mode?

thanks

Hi ;
i need to ask you , you said router kicks all client and then you say you have an AP bridge and a wds client .
how many client connected to the AP bridge ? how ?
then i will guide you what to do .
with best regards .

i have 5 people connected to ap-bridge and all clients are in station-wds mode.

i added a bridge to AP and added under wds (wds mode:static and wds default bridge:bridge1)
I did the same for the clients linking into AP only difference they link in as station-wds with same wds modes

i am one of the clients(client 2).Below is example of two clients and Access Point.

Modem-------client2(station-wds)-----routerAP-bridgerouter-------client1(station-wds)
192.168.1.200—192.168.1.232-------192.168.1.199
192.168.1.205192.168.1.207–192.168.1.233

thanks

Hi Happydady ;
first you have few number of clients , using WDS mainly for doing roaming .
so , when i user move with his laptop as example from area one to area two he will not be disconnected from the network
bacause WDS are placed in different places to make a roaming network like the cellphone network .
i think you do not need to use WDS .
if you want to use WDS check the following :
from the new terminal enter the following command :

/ interface wireless export

and then check :

/ interface wireless wds
add name=“wds1” mtu=1500 arp=enabled disable-running-check=yes
master-interface=wlan1 wds-address=aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff comment=“”
disabled=no

is the disable-running-check= no or yes ? , you should make it yes by copying this part to text file , do the changes there and copy the corrected command from the text file .
delete the WDS from the wireless and then past the copied command to new terminal window .

as i see in your diagram that you are connected to the internet modem directly , the internet modem not connected to the AP bridge ??? :confused:
why you are using routers ? what for ???
you should connect the AP bridge to the internet modem and all the five clients should be using station mode to read the ssid coming from the AP bridge and to connect to it .
if you need further info. write for it .
with best regards .

hi

i whould like to move away from wds please provide me best way to do this.

you should connect the AP bridge to the internet modem and all the five clients should be using station mode to read the ssid coming from the AP bridge and to connect to it .

The ap-bridge is on a Highsite and have more than one wireless card in it, connecting clients all around it (all not roaming clients, there equipement is fixed). there is no pc’s connected to the highsite only the mikrotik router. Also just to add i have 4 wireless cards in the highsite all connecting different clients around it. most client use cpe mikrotik. Also i am sharing my internet connection with the freinds and we use a local cap which allows us to surf locally in the modem and we dial rasspppoe to get to international websites. Our gatway is the modem 192.168.1.200

Hope i gave you enough info to set me on the right path.

thanks
