I have read and implemented the documentation on pcq queuing, with 3 levels of service, premium, business and residential.
A question, suppose I were to impliment TWO levels only, level 1 and level 2, but make both identical in all respects except
the IP subnets assigned to each one, and the order in which they are presented in the queuing table.
So level 1 is first and has 10.0.1.0/24 as its target destination.
Level 2 is second and has 10.0.2.0/24 as its target destination.
The max cap on both is 10 megs with default limit.-at and priorities are all 8.
When the upstream pipe is empty what difference in performance will each subnet see?
When the upstream pipe is full, what difference in performance will each subnet see?
For example, a worst case:
Assume the upstream is 100 megs, and each subnet has 10 customers for 20 customers total, with 10 megs local loop each, so we are oversold by 2:1.
Assume all customers are trying to pull 10 megs each continuously for their 50 inch TV’s ![]()
Will level 1 customers see better performance than level 2? If yes, why? If not why?
