Physical vs VLAN counters

Hi Forum,

Have an interesting problem.

ether1 on a CCR1036 has no IP address or anything on the physical port.

It has a single VLAN that has an IP as a sub-interface.

The only traffic going through this port should be this one VLAN

However, I note that there is sometimes around 10mbits of discrepency between the 2 readings - the physical interface is showing upwards of 10mbit more traffic than the sub-interface VLAN.

We purchase 310mbit of bandwidth, but the VLAN and real world traffic only seems to make it to 300mbit as the physical interface seems to be chewing up the extra 10mbit in unknown data.

This has occurred on 2 different CCR1036’s, both currently running 6.27, but problem has been evident since early 6.x releases

To re-iterate, there should be no Layer 3 protocols running over the physical interface - it runs purely as a trunk port to facilitate the VLAN interface,

Anyone seen this before and know what causes it ?

Thanks.
