Multicast stream is not passing from Rb750 source side interface.(PIM-SM) My topology is
vlc-Mcast Source_____>Rb750-routerA_____>RB750-routerB____>Rb433-IGMP-Proxy___> Vlc client
what else is required other them mum PIM PDF explanation.
Maybe i m missing some basics, both vlc pc’s can ping each other. Do i have to give any special route info in win7 based vlc streamer? I didnt give any static command related to Multicast address(224.10.10.10/32) except vlc streamer and reciever.
Or is there any IGMP version conflict between PIM router and IGMP Proxy?
I have v5.16(RB750 and RB433).
Or i should use atleast one IGMP Multicast managable switch in my network topology even in testing purpose for single reciever? I have no switches or any other device between source and reciver other then 2 RB750 and 1 Rb433.
does routerA and routerB have PIM or IGMP-Proxy configuration. they should have that set up.
They are compatible. As far as i have tested, there where no problems with these two working together. Just note that sometimes PIM configuration is not updated if you are changing the settings and you have to reboot the router for changes to take effect. That is known bug and we are working on that.
Also, if you have PIM configured, what router is set as a RP for the multicast group? And you can check what router on what interface have multicast stream packets arriving and check in joins, if these are propagated over the multicast routers properly.
Route A & B has PIM configuration between them according to wiki example and mum PIM PDF. router A is getting mcast packet at ether1 from source but unable to transfer to ether2 to wards router B . RP point is ether2 router A. But I think mcast source is unable to join Router A.my receiver is connected to ether2 of rb433 with igmp proxy setup .
Topology
Vlc mcast source--------->ether1 of routerA(rb750)eth2---------->eth1 of router B(rb750)eth2---------->eth1 of igmp- proxy(rb433)eth2--------> vlc receiver
Even I tried only igmp proxy with single rb433 without PIM setup but same result, mcast packet not passing from upstream interface towards downstream interface.
Vlc mcast stream----->eth1 of igmp- proxy(rb433)- eth2------->vlc receiver .
V5.16 is updated on all routers.
One more thing. My vlc receiver is also getting SAP announcement generating from vlc streamer.
