Hi,
I am trying to get multicast running for MagentaTV of the german telekom.
Any tries with igmp and Pim failed, because RouterOS v7 does not support Pim-SSM, with is needed by the iptv of the german Telekom.
From other communities I have read, that in RouterOS v6 SSM was supported somehow
In the doc of v7 there is
ssm-range (IPv4 | IPv6; Default: ) Currently not implemented
Thanks. I already knew this post.
Regarding both given references about IGMP, they all refer to a description using V6.
One link refers to the discussion, where I am part of.
The configuration for IGMP-Proxy was used (no firewall…) but the stream breaks when switching from broadcast to multicast.
Perhaps the author uses something else than the Mediareceiver of the Telekom
igmp proxy in version 7 works for iptv multicast
Most likely something with a specific implementation
I can’t test this provider, but it works with others
Would someone here please clarify if these German Telekom users want PIM-SM, or SSM, or SSM over a PIM-managed network, or…? It feels like an acronym mashup, but lacking experience with these foreign networks, I can’t disentangle it on my own.
As I had started this topic a year ago, I would like to give some information of my steps taken:
1.) I was not able to get the German Magenta TV (1.x, using a needed Telekom-TV-Receiver ) running with RouterOS7. Therefore I switched to Draytek (167 & 2962) - this combination worked fine.
2.) In the meantime MagentaTV switched the technology to V2. This does not need any external receiver but only an app in the smart-TV (like Netflix…). I also changed to this and this seems to work with my play-MikroTik-Router in a first step. Currently the MikroTik router is connected after my Draytek router. I haven’t checked, if TV will work in a MikroTik standalone configuration.
To summarize:
Telekom magentatv v1 will ramp out. Therefore this problem will disappear.
Unfortunately users with MagentaTV v1 will have this problem as long as they stay at v1.
