Ping interface issue going to get fixed?

I see the elusive ping issue regarding a specific terminal still exists even with 5.0rc3. Is this slated to get fixed anytime soon? Trying to sell a Mikrotik to my company (for 170+ hotels) but a key feature they want is failover.

Maybe someone has a better way to do this… I can get ‘check-gateway’ to work but that would require the gateway to go down completely. If the hotel is setup in such a way where there is another device (such as DSL modem) that is giving out DHCP to the Mikrotik then the gateway IP may not go down. I was using a script to ping something external (such as 4.2.2.2 or www.google.com) and force it over ether1. Anyone have another solution that may be viable and somewhat portable?
