We have started rolling out some Netgear DGN1000 DSL routers, these are pretty much used only as a modem and nothing else.
We have remote management turned on and i've noticed some unusuall behaviour from the dude.
When your running a normal ping request it will always fail untey from windows it will succeed.
If you boost the packet size to 64 then it will respond from the dude.
Whilst I dont mind this for the moment I'd rather keep to using the smaller packets that we have been using (28) as this reduces the load on the network.
Is there any reason that any one can see to cause the dude to work in this way?
The strange thing is that 2 of our new routers are working on the standard settings that are used accross the rest of our estate so it definately appears to be just a few devices that are not being contacted in the same way as the rest.

Firewalls are set to respond to ping
