ping probe devices using MAC instead of IP

Hi.
Is there a way to ping probe devices using MAC instead of IP ?
I have some devices (such as ip phones) with dynamical ip address so I can’t monitor them with the dude

In device configuration window → general tab, change MAC lookup to “mac to ip”. With those settings dynamic addresses shouldn’t be a problem. However that is only presuming that server can see these devices in MAC mappings section.

Or assign ip address to the mac statically in dhcp server lease table. Then the phone gets always the same ip address from dhcp server …
