hi guy i wanted to know from my internet switch when i ping google i get the ttl 47 time 589ms and 64 byte ping when i ping ova the network wifi i get everything the sme only the ttl is 46 and the byte ping is 32 byte does that slow down my internet bandwith from below? i am buy 128kbps when i do a direct ping test on this website http://www.pingtest.net/ i get A this test is on the internet switch when i do a test over wifi i get D why is this?
‘Bytes’ refers to the size of the payload in the ICMP packet and can be changed if necessary. RouterOS defaults to 64 bytes, Windows defaults to 32 bytes. As long as the payload is under the MTU for the links end to end it shouldn’t matter much. That the TTL is decreased by one after passing through your router is absolutely expected. TTL is decreased for every layer 3 hop traversed.
These are fairly basic concepts. Maybe pick up a book, or read some online tutorials on how TCP/IP (and IP in general) works.
If you get a great test result from the router (which is what I assume you mean by “internet switch”) but bad results connected on WiFi behind the router, your WiFi network has large amounts of latency. That’s pretty much all that can be determined from your post, there are thousands of things that can influence wireless networks.
what do you mean by large amounts of latency ? how could i slove that sorry just to get info faster i tend to ask as your explantion is faster to understand then google search
Your WiFi network is slow. There’s no generic magic bullet to make it faster, it all depends on your specific case.
according to me it seems fast but let me explain how i have set it up
my internet comes from a local isp 128kbps via optic i get it from a ethernet switch i have run a lan cable to a mikrotik rb433 port 1 i am getting 100mbps full duplex i can ping google etc my public ips etc so from port 2 i have onther lan running to onther mikrotik higher to port1 at the top lan which runs on 10mbps full duplex then i have two sectors connected to lan 2 and 3 at 10mbps because my sectors only work at 10mbps and all my clients are getting my -66dbm tx rx i am getting 54mbps both sides so the speed is ok but when i do the tests their showing low but via cable their ok please assist
now when i do a speed test its saying latency test error and the the ping test just jam’s up
fwei my transfer rate is ova wifi tht is
Download Speed: 125 kbps (15.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 40 kbps (5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Ping test shows 4% packet loss ping 109ms jitter 101ms grade d concerning most online app will not perform well but should function in some capacity test to other servers to confirm
I cannot troubleshoot your wireless network from here.
whats ur advise? what u wana login to mikrotik or the ubnt’s?
Sorry, I don’t want any logins into any of your gear.
Maybe someone else here will help you, or you can pay a consultant to look at your wireless network and pay them to fix it for you.
sure how do i get that in malawi could you please advise any one in my area who can do that for me? ready to pay.
sorry got busy tryna figure out stuff b4 i go ahead with a conlutant i made few tests and found out direct from the lan port where the internet is coming i am also getting 10kbps so does that show that the isp is not provding enuff speed?
