PoE Cisco + Ubiquiti + Mikrotik

Figured I’d through this out there to see if anyone had any suggestions.

I’ve got a Cisco sg300-10mpp switch that supports active POE. I bought an Ubiquiti INS-8023AF-I POE adapter that converts active to passive. I’ve connected the switch to the adapter to my Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD.

It powers on the Mikrotik. Except the POE port on the Mikrotik won’t pass data. The rest of the Mikrotik works fine otherwise. When I run a cable test, I get “shorted.” Anyone have any suggestions? I’m using cat6 cables if that seems significant.

The converter is not a gigabit model …

try forcing it to 100mbit

Thanks Petzl. I ran home during lunch today and tried a cross over cable on the mikrotik side. That seemed to power up the unit and activate the port.

Bummer about this thing only doing 100mb though. I’ll probably grab one of the mikrotik RBGPOE-CON-HP units when it ships.
