POE-CON-HP 48 to 24 volt converter

Does the POE-CON-HP isolate input to output, if so what is the maximum isolation voltage? The PCB photo on the data sheet indicates a barrier between input and output but isolation is not stated on the data sheet.

I’ve got to to power RB2011 from -48V (positive earth) telecommunications power supplies on about 80 emergency service radio sites. The Mikrotik POE-CON-HP looks like it might do the job but because of positive earth I need to have isolation from input to output.

I assume I connect Ground to pins 4 and 5 then -48V to 7 and 8 on the input RJ45 connector. Is that correct?

thanks

andy

I’ve found this forum link[1] which says the unit isolates input to output:

http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/poe-con-hp-with-48volts/58322/1

But it doesn’t say what the isolation voltage is or if the heatsink/case is floating or connected to an input or output. This is important if I mount it to a grounded support as I’m trying to avoid ground loops.

[1] note to self: search properly before posting

Have you tried DC to Dc converter, Meanwell unit works great with -48Vdc,use SD-25C-24 version goes upto 72Vdc input & 24V 1.1Amp output

http://www.meanwelldirect.co.uk/public/ranges/pdfs\r257\r257_3.pdf

for http://routerboard.com/RBPOE-CON-HP you can use either of possible poe IN (+48V or -48V) and ground isolation voltage is ~630V

Thanks for the information. It may be worth adding it when you next update the data sheet.

Regarding RBPOE-CON-HP - how are the shielded ethernet Jacks terminated - to the case of the device, or straight through from one shielded connector to another? My 48V POE switch does not have grounded ethernet ports, and I wish to take the shield of the 24V POE STP run to ground via this device if possible? Thanks in advance for any help.
