Currenty my company uses standard PoE 802.3af compliant injectors to power all our RB112s. However, we have noticed issues on some boards. We plug the ethernet in and the unit continually reboots. I connected via RS232 to see what was happening and the router reboots right after loading the boot loader. It doesn’t even start to count down to boot off of NAND or ethernet.
If I switch injectors it will work, but the injector that didn’t work properly will work just fine on a different unit.
Also if I close the PoE disable jumper the injector works.
What functions are disabled by closing the PoE Disable jumper?
Disabled[closed] PoE control for passive PoE injectors and/or input voltage less than 22V. In other words, using power jack 11..60V DC (JP2 should be closed);
using PoE
-48V DC (JP2 PoE control should be open to comply with standard requirements)
-12V DC non-standard PoE powering support (JP2 PoE control should be closed).
