So… Before I return switch I just ask simple question. Is HAP ac3 really not compatible with PoE+? Specs on switch writes that it is 802.3 af/at compliant. Maybe I need turn on something in RouterOS? Thanks.
hAP ac3 product page specifies it’s PoE in is passive (not 802.3 af/at). Another hint is input voltage range (12-28V) which doesn’t allow 802.3 af/at voltags - range there is centered around 48V.
Specs of switch says it’s 802.3 af/at compliant … which by its definition is not passive. It also mentions a 53.5V power adapter, which is completely sensible for a 802.3 af/at PSE.
So which device should I look for in similar price range that is compatible with HAP ac3 PoE in? It does not have to be a switch. I can use separate switch without PoE, I just need powering router from PoE and get rid of adapter.
Yes, all round plugs on Mikrotik devices are same dimensiobs and RBGPOE fits as well.
The problem with passive PoE is that all implementations are proprietary. There are only so many combinatiins of those 8 wires in UTP cable so not all implementations are different. The best chance is to go for same vendor (e.g. use Mikrotik switch).
And then there’s the issue with compatible voltages. Meaning not every MT switch necessarily fits the bill. You have to verify if chosen PoE switch is compatible with your hAP ac3.
That was the first thing I stared. Not so much, just:PoE out Passive PoEMax out per port output (input 18-30 V) 0.5 AMax total out (A) 0.5 A Based on that can I be sure that AP will run?
