Poe Out and IP Phone

Hello,

I have a Hex S and tried to connect a IP telephon on Ethernet5 Port. But the phone doesn’t start with the POE connected.
Is there any trick to make it happen?

Unfortunately there are too many flavors of PoE out there. IP phones typically want the “real” one (802.1af or 802.1at), which provides 48 V DC (nominal) and does some checks before actually applying that power, whereas lower end Mikrotik (and other vendors’) devices provide so-called “passive PoE” which provides something between 10 and 30 V DC (and also does some checks in Mikrotik case). So depending on your use case, you may need a “real PoE” injector, or a power adaptor for the phone, or hEX PoE (not lite) with a separately obtained 48 V DC adaptor as the bundled one is a 24 V one, or some dumb switch providing “real PoE”.

With hEX S in particular, using a 48 V power supply and forced PoE out (no checks) might do the trick.
