POE switch control through SNMP and router OS script

I’d like to write a script to control POE port power on HP switches.

This is to allow big power consumption reduction during the night.


Is there a SNMP client inside Router OS ? Any way to do this ?

I don’t see how you can do that from within RouterOS. There is no SNMP client, just an SNMP server, and the scripting language doesn’t allow you to remote control other devices. The built in telnet and SSH clients do not support parameters that are passed on to the other system as commands to run.

So, I will do it on a linux PC.

Energy saving should be mandatory on all devices today. Specially on switches.
