G’day People.
I’m not sure if this is supposed to be in General or Forwarding Protocols - So if I got it wrong, please accept my sincerest apologies.
I wish to setup a PtMP network around our main building which has a RouterOS router with spare ports if required. What I have is 2x OmniTiks and 9x SXT 5HnDs. I have 8 buildings around the main building - I would like to set up both the Omnis in the middle, and have the load of the satellite buildings around the outside. That way I can split the load over the two WANs. With this setup, if at all possible, I would like to have them fail from one to the other if one of the Omnis fails.
Firstly, how close together can I have these two Omnis without causing any damage? I was thinking about having them one above the other on the short roof-mount mast that I have.
Secondly, how can I do the routes so they go through the Omni that the client is connected to? I.e. satellite building A is connected to B OmniTik normally, but if that OmniTik dies it connects to A. However, how can I make the routes update to show this - Will I have to set up RIP or OSPF or something? I have no experience with any of these - Any help or documentation would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brendan
