Hi all, im running a backhaul link routerboard to routerboard, What card should i use for backhaul the Engenius 8602-s or the CM9? 8602-3 has MUCH more output power, the CM9 has little… This is for 5.4-5.8 ghz… What do you all suggest for this backhaul link. I apprecate anyones expereinced input thank you -Jordan
Greetings!
I am using the R52H for my backhauls now. I just installed them, and the very short range for my applications only requires 17db tx-power. I have seen other posts that some of these cards have trouble with the transmitter tho. All 4 of mine work fine.
I was using the SR5, but they are a bit on the expensive side, with no advantage in my applications.
my shot is 1.5 miles, with LOS. Does anyone have anything good to say about the ingenius or CM9 ? if not maybe i will get an R52H -jordan
im using xr5 with hyperlink omni, i think its very reliable. ![]()
For 1.5 miles, cm9 or the r52 would be fine. No big power is needed.
I have a 4km link using proprietary gear where the radio is putting out 2dbm, or about 2 milliwatts (5.3 band). With 28 dbi antenna at one end and 23 dbi antenna at the other, I get a beautiful full modulation quality link.
Antennas would be 19dmi and 21 dbi, 19 Dbi enclosure with routerboard 133/112 . and at receive end 21 parobolic dish. with CM9 and LOS, at 1.5 miles this will still work with good signal, Jp? thanks -Jordan
1.5 is cake. With 2.4GHz, 1.1 is cake with a 10dBi on the AP and dipole on the ground, -77dB signal LOS. A 15dBi panel on each end would be fine, overkill even, but I completely agree with over-engineering a link.
I would use the RICs from MT. They have R52 inside.
No hassle with coax. I order them with preconfigured
Ethernetcable from my Distributoor, so only plug and play.

Acutually Oldman, im using Currently DONT LAUGH! its all i had is to CPE units One demarc, as an AP, and one airbridge sb2100 as Client, both units are 802.11B YES B!!! and im re transmitting with Sr2 on the 2.4ghz spectrum… But it is working.. didnt work at first, but as i soon found out i didnt aligne them well enough,..
Last question when i get my 2 CM9’s my 21dbi and 19 dbi antenna, should i mount them in an Horizonal position, or Vertiacal, there is a motorola wisp running 5.8 a half a mile away from the backhaul link (transmit side of backhaul) I think Horizontal, to keep interference away.. What do you all say?? thank you for your input on the wireless cards CM9’s Going to be ordered. -Jordan
