Point-to-Point configuration

Hi There

I am trying to setup a Point-to-point Wireless link with 2x Mikrotik DISC Lite 5 AP’s. This should be an easy job, but still it took me the whole day and still I can’t get this right.
I’ve followed every youtube video and other knowledge base article I can find…

Here is what is happening:

When I login to the device for the first time, I first go to Bridge and add the Bridge. Then I click on Bridge Port and add an Ether1 Port and WLan1 Port.
The moment I add the Ether1 port, the device disconnects from Winbox.
I can then still ping the device, but I am unable to connect to it again via it’s default IP or MAC Address.
It keeps telling me “Could not connect to [MAC Address} (port 20561) - time out”

The only way for me to get back on the Mikrotik is to reset to default settings.

What am I doing wrong… Iv’e followed these articles step by step???

Thanks

The moment I add the Ether1 port, the device disconnects from Winbox.

That is normal, the bridge “resets” itself…

I can then still ping the device, but I am unable to connect to it again via it’s default IP or MAC

Post your config with hide-sensitive…

I follow the exact steps as per this document https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/PTP_Link … Step_Guide

Once I add the ether1 port it disconnects and then I have to reset the AP to access it again.
The rest of the settings is default.

Technically speaking, that is not setting up a point to point link, that process is that extend your wifi…

ok well that is maybe my problem

what i’m trying to do is to setup a wireless link from a building to a second building using WDS

any documents that I can follow?

Use station Bridge unless there is a specific reason to go with station WDS…
