Hi Friends
i Have Some Point to Point with XR5 " AP Bridge ----> Station "
But , Anyone Can Search and Connect to My AP Bridges …
How to Secure That ?
Hide , Transparent or Security …
??
Thanks
Anyone know ?
Well for starters you can hide the ssid…
if both units are mikrotik you can enable nstreme which would make it invisible to the traditional client.
You can employ wpa or wep encryption techniques.
You can employ or make use of the connect and access list
Everything you need to do is found under the interface>wireless section
Sorry to hijack this somewhat, but I have wondered about PtP security as well.
My PtPs are hundreds of feet in the air, go for an average of 30 miles each, and use dishes with a 1.1 degree beamwidth. Let’s assume I didn’t hide my SSID, didn’t make access lists, and didn’t use encryption. How could someone compromise me in this situation? Get in a helpicopter and fly into my signal with a laptop that somehow could decode nstreme?
turn on wpa2, there is no loss in bandwidth as far as I can tell.
where do you get 1.1 degree beamwidth antennas?
instead of AP-bridge make it “bridge”
They are 6GHz waveguide fed andrew dishes I’ve underbuilt with Mikrotik.
