Same or different SSID for an AP

  • Same SSID for all Access Point which are installed in a camping area.
  • Diferent SSID for each Access Point in a camping area.

Hi everyone,
We have developing wireless networks from several years, but my partners and I never arrivives a final decision about if it is better that all AP’s in a camping AREA have the same SSID or if each one has a different one.

If SAME SSID, then all customer know which is your company SSID, so the roaming aggreements with third parties and its smart client SW is improved.

If each AP has its own SSID (SSID_1, SSID_2, SSID_3…), you can detect inmmediately which is the broken AP. The customers normally knows which is the SSID he/she is connected.

What is your opinion?

The customers normally knows which is the SSID he/she is connected.

He can also tell you his device model, and you can find him in the registration table or logs.
