Poor bandwidth

I’ve set up a RB450G to be the NAT router for our house. Everything is functioning, so far as I can tell, but speed tests top out at about 10 mb/sec. Speed tests without the router should be getting about 60 mb/sec down and 10 mbps up. So far as I can see from the lights and the interface status, the ethernet connections are set up for full duplex gigabit. I haven’t really done much to the device other than slightly customize the default configuration and add IPv6. It doesn’t seem like the system is running out of CPU.

I’m very experienced with IP and networking, but I’m not sure where to look first to find out what’s wrong here.

Any suggestions?

Never mind. This seems to have cleared itself up.

May I ask what was the solution?

I’ve got some bandwidth issue too, on a same RB450G.

It’s a 80/25m net, but with rb450g, the max speed is around 60/7m.

I’m not sure what it was. when I tried it later, it was just fine.

I’ve found the problem later. Interesting…

Accidentally I saw, that while the rb450g had been set to 100mbit full-duplex, on the switch the full-duplex led blinked(!!). Because it is a manageable switch, I configured from auto to 100mbit full-duplex, and all of my bandwidth problem eliminated…

Interesting though, what caused (and causing) the problem. Bug in the switch? Working fine with other devices. Bug in the mikrotik hw/sw? Don’t think so. Noisy signal on UTP cable, causing unsure duplex option? Maybe…
