Poor speed on Wireless Repeater

Hi all,

i have setup the connection on a 951 taking the SSID from another 951. i got immediately the connection and ‘i have an internet speed’ but very very poor. on the 951 from which I am taking the
‘connection’ is connected with LAN to the network and has BW like 750 Mb/s (both send receive). if i test it on a 951 with wlan connection i have only 20-50 Mb/s.

951 with only wlan connection has 6.35.4 and 951 with LAN connection has 6.15.

is it possible that this 951 (only wlan) is taking so much overhead?

is there a possibility to increase the speed?

i could imagine that the speed woudlnt be as high as on a 951 connected via LAN cable.. but this is like… 15 times slower.

any tips/suggestions?

thanks

Such speed looks correct. Even with finetuning wifi you will not gain much more. Count with delays and the fact that all devices in the repeater chain could easily interfere with all others so the retransmits could be necessary. Just run cable to second ap and set non overlapping frequency or use two radios instead one on the repeaters place.

Thank you jarda…

maybe I should concider this…

good point on two radios… i am havig like 20 AP’s connected via LAN … and i have set them all to the same frequency in a sense to have a ‘roaming’ WLAN.

is that correct?

It depends. You should observe what interferes with what and try to split the frequencies in order to avoid interference. If the APs are close you should reduce the tx power. Clients can roam even when the frequencies are not same. You need to test…
