I have the crs112 and 2 RBcAPGi-5acD2nD.
My internet connection delivers 130/30 with an external speedtest. Internally cabled with gigabit.
With wifi I get only some 4-8 mbit/s up / download. iPad and Notebook chose the 5 ghz, the registration table says, they are connected with over 600mbit/s.
Any option to improve something?
Same situation with Cisco WAP371 is: connected with 1 GBits, and full 130/30 Mbit/s with the same speedtest.
Also, how are you testing the speed? With Speedtest from that iPad? Or some other way? When you run the speedtest, check if anything changes in the registration table entry
Connect Ethernet cable from e.g. your notebook (disable notebook wifi) to eth2 of your cap ac and perform a Speedtest. If this performs well, you can debug your wifi setup.
I don’t get a connection over eth2 of the access point. Not only no IP address, but not a connection. The LAN cable works, and so does the notebook on other (switch)ports.
I might say I could exclude hardware, cause I tried both access points…
You got me wrong. ETH8 is the port on the CRS112.
I wanted to say, that the router is able to use port eth1 for accessing the gateway. But not with port eth8, as I initially configured.
And to clarify: the configs were the same, only eth8 and eth1 changed their “role”.
YOU say “connection over eth2 of the access point” here. Can we agree ?
If you can not get an IP address when connected to ether2 port of cap ac, something is wrong with your config on that cap ac as well unless you specifically configured it that way but then I would expect you also know how to undo that.

Is that cap ac connected to that same device from your other tread ?
well, cool, I got the access point this Monday, took it off the box and rebooted into caps mode like the manual says.
In the other thread I want to find the root cause of getting no ip address from the DHCP-server, which seems to be bart of a bug that had to do with quick-setup.
So I wasn’t all MY fault… when there’s a bug and I don’t know that this old bug makes the devices unusable,… Should I first read all the things of the last 10 years just to know every bit? It would take ages…
Maybe it’s too much to expect a device running somehow out of the box… I’ll overthink that.
Second: I wrote (please read carefully) that I not only get no IP address, but I didn’t get A CONNECTION. The light didn’t went on, the notebook didn’t recognize any changes.
As if the port was turned off. But it wasn’t me, I did nothing on the ap after unboxing and rebooting to caps.
For most problems it is necessary to get insights on the config, all config related to the problem (which can be complete configs of all devices). By providing this information, discussions can be left out.
I assume you still want some help? Your hardware is more than capable to handle the speeds you mentioned.
It seems I solved all other problems.
Now I’m able to connect, it’s stable.
But I only get 5 MBit/s download and 10-15MBit/s upload. Yep. Upload is up to 3 times faster.
I’m connected to 5GHz radio.
I use netztest.at for tests.
My DSL speed delivers stable 150/40 MBit/s.
Wifi over my Cisco APs delivers 150/40 over 5 GHz.
Wifi over my mikrotik test-ap “wap R ac” delivers 100/25 over 5 GHz.
Wifi over the rbcapgi5acd2nd r2d2 delivers 5/15 over 5Ghz, but between those accesspoints and my router is the crs112. Might it kill the performance?
