Port is not getting full uplink | hardware issue

Good evening, dear Mikrotik users,

I own a Mikrotik crs328-24p-4s+rm. Unfortunately, I just noticed that port 14 (1 Gigabit port) no longer achieves the full 1G uplink, but only 100M.

I have already tried a number of things. From a complete reset to switching from RouterOS to SwOS and back again. I have also installed the latest firmware, which is why I assume it is a hardware error. When I plug a LAN cable into port 14 and any other port and set the uplink to Auto in the software, there is no uplink at all. However, when set manually to 100M, it does work, which reinforces my suspicion of a hardware error.

Viewed from the front, the RJ-45 port looks like new. No abnormalities. It can't be the cable either, as I tried several and validated them using the working ports.

Does anyone know which component this could be, or whether it is even possible to fix such a problem?

I would be very grateful for any ideas.

Hello, did you rule out cable problem ? Did you try to connect a known working device to that port ?

As for hardware, it can be anything; it shares the same block from Ether9 to Ether16.

If you've tried moving the cable from a working port to this one and it doesn't work, either keep it as is, knowing about the problem with port 14, or issue an RMA...

What device is on the other side of cable? Did you change it to any other device? Maybe it does not autonegotiate and links only at 100Mb?

Unfortunately I can't RMA, because the device is too old. I have only noticed it just now, because I have never used that port before. That's why I'm searching for possible solutions, but as it seems this is pretty difficult.

I tried multiple devices. One laptop and one desktop pc. Both support one gigabit. The link can he established with any other ports using those devices. Only port 14 can achieve 100M only.

It could be a simple soldering defect on the PCB, if ports 9 through 16 are working.
Ask yourself: Is it worth the risk of ports 9 through 16 no longer working just to get port 14 working again?

It could even be a single contact of the rj45 socket being oxidized (or the rj45 on the cable if you haven't changed it).
You can try using the cable test feature of the ROS, better with a longish cable (more than 4 or 5 meters) that should be able to detect the issue.
