port scan reveals open port 3986 mapper-ws_ethd

Hi guys maybe somebody can bring some light into this.

I did a port scan (with nmap) on my RB133C v 3.10 and it came up with ‘open port 3986 mapper-ws_ethd’ what is this?

I also have this port open and not sure of the purpose…
IANA & NMap report these ports as “MAPPER workstation server” but I cannot seem to find anything else on what this service is…

can anyone elaborate on this for us…?

if you don’t block everything, it’s not closed by default. allow needed ports, and then make one rule that blocks the rest of the ports

Just to satisfy my curiosity, what is this mapper doing?

there is no mapper :slight_smile:

I have no idea why your scanner found this port exactly. try to make a firewall rule that blocks connections to this port, and see what it says again.
