I had a problem here: http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/rb2011uias-2hnd-in-huawei-e3372-problem/113038/1 I think I found the solution (if you don’t have time skip to the list below).
The main problem is the oldest posts about this “thing”, there was a workaround with usb mode=force-host and power cycle. I tried without success.
I tested the two methods (older and mine) with these two (plus on RB951Ui-2nD but it’s working “out of box”) devices: CRS125-24G-1S, and RB2011UIAS-2HND-IN with Huawei E3372 and E3372h modem (It must be HiLink version!)
The first big problem in the older posts the steps order. As I saw everyone start the device, configure it and after attaching the modem, which not showing in USB list, then trying to reboot, power cycle, updates, etc.
These steps worked for me:
- Configure the modem, update fw and RouterOS (both “not working” device fw were: 3.41 and RouterOS: 6.40.4)
- Plugin the modem (at this point not showing in USB list)
- This step I think not necessary but I write it: I changed usb mode to force-host (on CRS there were a menu for it via winbox, on RB2011 I used terminal, I don’t know why it’s missing on winbox)
- If you reboot or power cycle now nothing will happen (but older post say it should be fine)
- Now I tried to restart the modem with USB Power Reset (here was a funny bug, the RB2011 normally restarted the modem, BUT on CRS the modem shown in interface list and worked for the set of time, ie.: I set 50 seconds and it’s worked for 50 seconds, but only in force-host mode)
- And the point where the modem started to work: now, make a configuration reset with plugged in modem without backup and default config
- After restart wait few seconds and the modem shows in interfaces list with LTE
+8. If the mikrotik restarts without attached modem you can’t see in the USB list if you plugin again, you need to restart with plugged in modem, if this not helps, you need to power cycle (with plugged in modem) or do again the steps
