Damn simple question regarding powering two devices:
I’m powering RB411UAHR with jack standard plug.
I.m powering RB750UP with jack standard plug.
Now
3. I’m connecting RB411UAHR Ether1 to RB750UP Ether2.
IS it OK, or am I connecting 2 power sources and I’m to burn RB411UAHR device down? Yes I know I can turn off the RB750, but I have connected them with default configuration (which is auto-on).
According to the wiki, if the ports are set to auto-on, power is only sent over the port if resistance is detected. This will protect non-POE devices from being powered. So, you’re fine.

Is RB411UAHR non-poe? I usually power it using PoE. I just didn’t use RB750UP as power supply.
So, check the ether2 LED on your RB750UP. I’m assuming it’s green…
I really can’t! its very remote. Thats I’m not seeking the proposal of test, I need definite answer about the hardware. Thank you anyway.

Ether1 can receive PoE (but NOT provide PoE power to other devices).
After re-reading your question, I think I did not understand before. You are wondering if plugging power into the RB411UAHR using the standard jack AND ether1 port (coming from auto-on RB750UP ether2) will be a problem? In other words, input power from 2 sources might damage the RB411UAHR? Hm… that I don’t know about.
your equipment should be fine as RB750UP have protection for power input on POE-OUT ports. and use of 2 PSUs is allowed on one router. Most of not all new designs have protection on ports, so, if you use PoE you have 0V on Pext and vice versa.

I’m rather afraid of RB11UAHR - what happens when somebody connects standard jack port to RB411UAHR AND RB750UP with PoE to its one and only Ether1 interface. Is it still safe to have PoE of 750UP and standard Jack connected to RB411UAHR ?
The thing is, we are sending boards to the whole country with instructions how to set connections up. So far, we have around 50% of dead boards so I’m trying to find out the reason, as I cannot be sure how those fails happen.
I was also asking on RB current quality on this forum, but the number of failures today increased so much you wouldn’t even exists if the quality was so low :-/ As we’re about to invest I really need definite answer.
